The Circuit

In September 2010, a number of Methodist circuits (groups of local congregations) across Shropshire and Herefordshire will merge to form the new Shropshire and Marches Methodist Circuit, one of the geographically largest circuits in the Methodist Church.

Wem and Prees Green Methodist Circuit will form a part of this, as will seven other circuits.

The Circuits involved are:

The Northern area of the Circuit

The new circuit will be divided into three areas, namely the North, Central and South areas. Each will have an administrator and Caroline in the Wem office will be the administrator for the Northern area, as well as its own ministry team and Bill Huband will be the minister for the Northern area of the circuit.

The chapels forming the North area will be:

Baschurch, Bettisfield, Bomere Heath, Chapel Lane (Criftins), Chirk, Chirk Bank, Coton, Deytheur, Edgerly, Ellerdine Heath, Ellesmere, Gobowen, Knockin Heath, Knolton, Lee Bridges, Llansantffraid, Maesbrook, Main Road (Dudleston Heath), Melverley, Moors (St. Martin’s), Morda, Morton, Northwood, Oswestry, Pant, Prees, Prees Green, St. Martin’s, Welshampton, Welsh End, Wem, West Felton.

Why merge?

Grouping Circuits in this way, along with other initiatives such as clustering local congregations, will help cut down on administration and enable more energy to be devoted to realising the vision of the local church.
